The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace provides a chance to commemorate the good impact that sport and physical exercise play in communities and people’s lives across the world. The theme of The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace 2022 is “Securing a Sustainable and Peaceful Future for All: The Contribution of Sport”. The aim of 6th April 2022 is raise awareness on how sports can be used as a tool to advance sustainable development and human rights.

Cultural Diversity and Sustainable Development for Peace (CD4Peace) has been an active advocate for sustainable development, cultural diversity, and peacebuilding. We have closely followed the human rights situation in Afghanistan since the Taliban returned to power in 2021. Recently, we are deeply concerned about Afghan women’s rights to education as a result of the Taliban breaking its promises of reopening the schools for females beyond 6th grade (around 12~13 years old).
